Mountain Ridge High School’s wrestling teams both placed in the top 10 overall in the 6A state tournament. The girl’s wrestling team finished in 4th place with the boy's team coming in at 6th. This was a very successful inaugural season for the girl's team. Six of the 13 girls, most of which were first-year wrestlers, placed at state this year. The boy's team won first place in their region in their first year in the 6A division. These wrestling teams are more than good wrestlers. They are great students who want to be good individuals and make a difference in the community. “Through hard work, determination, team grit, and forming a great team atmosphere where they could have fun and lean on each other for support, they were able to establish themselves as one of the best teams in the state,” said the girls wrestling coach. Both coaches and athletes look forward to great things to come next year. Congratulations to both Mountain Ridge wrestling teams on the hard work you have put in to making this year memorable.
